Thursday Night Practice Match

We start every Thursday night at 5:30 PM, except when the Ben Avery Shooting Facility is closed or the practical pistol range is unavailable due to a special events etc...

  • Match starts at 5:30 PM
  • New shooters meeting at 6:00 PM
  • If you are not a new shooter, registration is open until 8:00 PM.  Call 480 329-9134 or 602 677-9739 for the gate code.
  • Mentors available
  • The stages will test all aspects of practical shooting, and are always great fun
  • USPSA and Cactus Match rules
  • Time off scoring
  • 80 to 100 rounds of ammo
  • 3 to 4 mags with speed loaders needed
  • Finish time is 10 PM sharp
  • Match fees are $15 for members and $17 for non-members, $6 for each additional gun, Juniors shoot for $1
  • Pins and Cactus Bucks are awarded for stage winners and first, second and third place winners in each class (open and limited)

New shooters are always welcome, mentors available to help you enjoy your first match and we go out of our way to help you feel right at home your first time out. So regardless of your skill level you can come out and have a great time.

USPSA Monthly Matches

The first Sunday of each month

  • USPSA classifier stage and mission match starting at 9:00am October to April, 8:00am May to September.
  • Mentors available
  • Minimum of 5 pistol stages plus the classifier stage.  125-150 rounds of ammo required.
  • Match fees are $25 for the first gun for members and $30 for the first gun for non-members, $6 for each additional gun, Juniors shoot for $1
  • First Sunday of each month, unless it's a holiday or the range is unavailable. Please see our Calendar page for specific dates.

New shooters are always welcome, mentors available to help you enjoy your first match and we go out of our way to help you feel right at home your first time out. So regardless of your skill level you can come out and have a great time. The classifier stage is important for your national USPSA ranking so this is a match you don't want to miss.

Steel Challenge Match
Pistol, Rimfire Pistol and Rimfire Rifle

The third Sunday of each month

  • Start time 9 AM October through March
  • Start time 8 AM April through September
  • Match fees are $18 for members and $20 for non-members, $8 for each additional gun, Juniors shoot for $1
  • USPSA Steel Challenge rules
  • 8 timed stages - 5 strings each
  • At least 200 rounds of ammo and 5 mags
  • All firearms must have a holster or case

3 Gun Nation Match

The fourth Sunday of each month

  • Match brief begins at 8:15 AM and the match starts at 8:30 AM
  • 3Gun Nation format match.  Fun gun category if you wish to shoot just 1 or 2 guns in the match.
  • Match fees are $30 for Cactus members and $35 for non-members.  Juniors are $1 and ladies shoot for $10.
  • Time plus scoring
  • 4 stages with paper and steel targets in 3 Gun Nation format
  • 80 to 100 rounds for each gun
  • Continental breakfast provided by The Wilderness Tactical Products
  • Prize table for all 3 Gun Nation Match participants

The third Saturday night of each month

  • Starts around 5 PM with barbeque
  • Match fees are $12
  • Family and kid friendly match
  • All calibers allowed
  • Bring something to cook on the grill, something to drink and to share
  • Shooting starts after supper
  • This is not a competition match

New shooters are always welcome, mentors available to help you enjoy your first match and we go out of our way to help you feel right at home your first time out. So regardless of your skill level you can come out and have a great time.
